The Mary Valley is one hour north of Brisbane on the northern border of the Sunshine Coast. It covers the townships of Crystal Waters, Conondale, Kenilworth, Kandanga, Imbil, Dagun and Amamoor through to Lagoon Pocket and Dingo Creek.

The scenery is stunning as you drive past open pastures bordered by the rising hills and mountains of the Conondale and Blackall ranges. Kenilworth Homestead Weddings Kenilworth Homestead and its outbuildings were the core of the pioneering Kenilworth Station (or Oobie Oobie, the Aboriginal name), of the Mary Valley, opened up in 1850 and eventually enclosing an area of 100 square miles. The history abounds. Ranging from its background as a Cob and Co coaching station; to its involvement with Lord Lamington (who named Lamington Plateau); to its allegiance with the Gubbi Gubbi tribe of local aborigines; to its rich association with our gold mining past, there is so much to explore. Rattler Cafe Imbil The Rattler Café Imbil, the terminus for the Mary Valley Heritage Railway. A turntable located in the railway yards, which was installed by the MVHR, and the steam locomotive or RM can be observed being turned on the turntable. The Valley Rattler, Mary Valley, Queensland, Australia

The Valley Rattler — The Rattler's spectacular journey begins at historic Gympie Railway Station. Built in 1913, the station building is a living tribute to Gympie’s rail heritage which began in the 1870s and is a link to the region's "Golden" past. Passing through Gympie City, its southern suburbs and the station at Monkland, The Rattler crosses the Mary River. The journey continues into the scenic Mary Valley where the railway line negotiates the steep slopes of the Mary River, offering spectacular views. Throughout the Rattler's journey, the traveller can experience rural life and view commercial dairies, livestock enterprises and the farms of the steep slopes of the Mary Valley which produce pineapples, macadamias and other crops.
